New taproom with Liverpool brewed beer opening near city centre

A new taproom with locally brewed beer is opening near Liverpool's city centre this week.

It's the creation and passion project of couple Adam and Dominique Henderson, originally from Arbroath in Scotland, who moved to Liverpool because it's a "cool city" with "excellent water for brewing beer". The venture began with a brewery which started production in October 2021 before their first beers went on sale to the public in November 2021.

Now, Azvex Brewing Company is opening a taproom where fans can enjoy fresh, locally-produced beverages and even see them being made. The dog-friendly venue, on King Edward Street, will open this Friday, April 29.

Speaking to the ECHO, accounts manager Dominique, 31, said: "Adam and I are both originally from Arbroath in Scotland. We moved to Liverpool from Derby where we had been living for roughly nine, 10 years. Adam owns the brewery, runs it all and is head brewer. I do the accounts from home at the moment which works out really well as we have a two-year-old son and a new born baby girl [who's] one month old.

"We're both really excited about the taproom opening as it is the product of a lot of hard work and planning. Our friends and family have been very supportive and are excited for it to be opening.

"Adam looked for a long time to find the perfect location. When this location in Liverpool came up, it [was the] perfect location [thanks to its] proximity to the city centre and the building itself was too good to pass up. We were both really excited to relocate to Liverpool as it is a really cool city.

"The taproom will give people the opportunity to try the product at source and means it is as fresh as possible. Liverpool also has excellent water for brewing beer."

Adam, 33, said: "I’m really happy with how Azvex beer has been received so far and this new venue will allow the people of Liverpool and visitors to the city to have a location with a permanent selection of Azvex beer. I think that this is important as it is made here in Liverpool - anyone who comes to [the] taproom will also get to see the room it's made in and associated equipment."

The taproom is opening at 5pm on Friday, April 29, 2022. It will open from 12pm until 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. Azvex Taproom is based at Unit 16, King Edward Street, Gibraltar Row, L3 7HJ.
