New support access now available for victims of sexual assault in Lanarkshire

Victims of sexual assault are now able to attend any sexual assault response coordination services in the West of Scotland.

The change came into force on Friday (April 1), with victims of sexual assault across Lanarkshire now able to attend NHS Lanarkshire Rape and Sexual Assault referral centre at The Dunnock Suite.

This offers a specialist medical and forensic service for anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted within the last seven days and it is designed to be comfortable and multi-functional while providing private spaces for interviews and forensic examinations.

The specialist team at the Dunnock Suite are trained to support victims and support them to make informed decisions on their next steps, the service is available to anyone aged 16 and over.

Victims do not need to be seen locally, they can choose any other West of Scotland Suite – those include the Archway Glasgow suite, The Willows in Ayrshire and Arron and the Dumfries and Galloway Suite.

There is other support available to victims, including Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre, Rape Crisis Scotland, NHS Lanarkshire Sexual Health and Scotland’s Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline.

More information on the help available across Lanarkshire can be found here.
