As UK households face a battle against the cost of living, shopping prices have also risen in line with inflation.
That is why finding the cheapest supermarket can be essential for everybody's weekly shop, reports Manchester Evening News. Comparisons have been made between the six main supermarkets, and Lidl have trumped the list since June 2022.
Changes have been quick, including Morrison's going from the cheapest to the most expensive shop in a matter of weeks. However, this week has seen a swap in who bags the crown of the budget supermarket - and it isn't Lidl.

Just last week, Lidl ditched its cheapest £1.72 butter for a £1.99 block. But now the price of that has risen to £2.15.
It's also put the cost of its cheapest loaf up from 36p to 39p and has hiked its two-pint bottle of milk from £1.25 to £1.30. The rises mean to cost of the full Lidl weekly shop - containing milk, a loaf of bread, coffee, teabags, beans, butter, chicken breasts and mince - has risen from £10.88 to £11.12 in just a week.
Now, the cheapest supermarket is Aldi, as their prices have remained the same for these items at £10.91. Sainsbury's is three pence more than Lidl, at £11.15.
