There are still some seriously exciting upcoming superhero movies to look forward to in 2024, even if the release slate looked a little thin on the ground at the start of the year.
We've already had the MCU extravaganza that was Deadpool and Wolverine, and Hellboy: The Crooked Man is out now. But, there's still more on the way. The end of the year is jam-packed with upcoming superhero movies, including the much-anticipated Joker sequel Joker: Folie à Deux, and the third and final installment in Sony’s Venom franchise.
Then, looking further ahead, spring 2025 brings with it the end of Marvel Phase 5 with Thunderbolts*, and then Marvel Phase 6 gets started with the Fantastic Four's introduction to the MCU. It's a big year for DC, too, as DCU: Chapter One will finally debut on the big screen with James Gunn’s Superman. In short, there's plenty to look forward to.
Hang onto your capes and read on for the lowdown on all the upcoming Marvel movies, upcoming DC movies, and more heading our way!

New superhero movies (TBA)
Several upcoming superhero movies have been announced and are in various stages of pre-development. However, there's no guarantee that any of these (bar a few MCU and DC offerings) will make it to the big screen. But they're worth keeping an eye on, nonetheless!
Previous DC projects, such as Gotham City Sirens and Green Lantern Corps, are now dead under the new DC Studios regime. Co-CEO James Gunn announced the slate for DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters in January 2023. Meanwhile, Beyond the Spider-Verse has also been indefinitely delayed and removed from the schedules.
Luckily, there are still plenty of flicks in the works and a well of titles we can re-watch in the meantime. Speaking of, if you are still playing catch up on the various superhero universes, you'll need our guides on how to watch the Marvel movies in order and the DC movies in order.
