New Sunday Times Under-35s Rich List - from Dua Lipa to Prince George's godfather

England football captain Harry Kane and musician Dua Lipa are among the country’s richest under 35-year-olds, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

The list also includes singer Harry Styles, the Duke of Westminster, Ed Sheeran, and golfer Rory McIlroy.

They are included in the latest power list, which estimates the fortunes of the 350 wealthiest people in Britain.

Marking its 35th year, the latest report says there are 171 billionaires in the UK this year, six fewer than in 2022, and the first fall for 14 years.

But the combined wealth of UK billionaires is £683.8billion, up £30.7billion from last year.

The young rich list is led by the Duke of Westminster, who inherited his title and a vast land and property portfolio when he was 25 – including 300 acres of London’s Mayfair and Belgravia.

The 32-year-old who is godfather to Prince George oversees a dynasty with property in 43 cities across 10 countries.

His, and his family’s, total wealth is estimated at £9.878billion, with an estimated loss of £166m after last year's list calculated a figure of £10.054bn.

Despite keeping mainly out of the spotlight, the young billionaire announced last month he was no longer Britain's most eligible bachelor after getting engaged to girlfriend of two years, Olivia Henson.

The list also includes self-made multi-millionaires.

Among them is Ben Francis, 30, of sports clothing firm Gymshark, who has built a £900million fortune in just over a decade.

Singer superstar Ed Sheeran’s fortune is put at £300million, Rory McIlroy’s at £200million and Harry Styles at £150million, the same as boxer Anthony Joshua.

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has conjured up a £92million fortune, ahead of Dua Lipa with £75million, Tottenham striker Harry Kane at £51million.

Of the 35 on the list aged under 35, only nine were born into money.

Four were born outside the UK.

About half attended state schools, and at least a third didn’t go on to further education.

Five were friends at the same school, South Bromsgrove High School.

Robert Watts, compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List, said: “Our new 35 Under 35 list includes men and women who have quickly built fortunes from fashion, vodka, lingerie and perfume.

“Many of these young guns are already employing hundreds of people and some will go on to be the future of the British economy.”

While the Duke of Westminster hasn't moved from last year's top spot on the list, other names featured in 2022's included events platform entrepreneur and billionaire Johnny Boufarhat (£2.06bn) and Marshmallow car insurance founders Oliver and Alexander Kent-Braham (£455m).

Billionaire brothers Sri and Gopi Hinduja topped the main rich list, who between them had a shared fortune of £28.47bn - an eye-watering figure in the face of the millions of Brits struggling to pay their bills amidst the cost of living crisis.

The mega-rich siblings inherited the running of Mumbai-based conglomerate Hinduja Group from their father, Parmanand Deepchand Hinduj, before moving its headquarters to London in 1979.
