A new wine bar with a ‘sun trap’ terrace has opened with views across the historic warehouses around Canal Street. Beeswing, which is perched above the new Nell’s bar off Minshull Street, will feature an impressive - and unusual - wine list too.
Behind it is Anna Tutton, the wine expert behind Vin-yard at Hatch, and the mobile wine bar Vin Van Voom. The wine comes from across the world, with selections from Georgia, Lebanon and Greece alongside the more usual French, Italian and New World.
The wines will be available by the glass, bottle or carafe, and food-wise, the menu is Mediterranean and North African-influenced tapas-style small plates, cooked by co-founder Joe Maddock.

He said: “Expect sumptuous fresh bites served with awesome wines in a stunning, laid-back space. Being on the first floor means our terrace is a total sun trap and has a real European vibe too – overlooking the waterside and gardens below.
“It’s always been our dream to open an all-day eatery that has that friendly, independent feeling you get from popping into your neighbourhood local. We’re beyond excited to see that come to life.”
The bar is part of the Kampus development, which boasts a number of exciting new openings for the city. Alongside Nell’s New York Pizza & Bar, Ancoats-founded bakery Pollen has opened its 'pastry kitchen and cafe' last month.
There’s also a standalone Great North Pie on the transformed Little David Street, expanding from its much-loved hatch at Altrincham Market. Still set to open is Madre, the taco spot that’s been a hit in Liverpool, and Yum Cha, which will serve dim sum.
It’ll also offer a lunch special in July, with three dishes for £15, Wednesday to Friday from 1pm to 5pm.
