New stunning helicopter flight over Welsh landmarks you can book this spring

From Caerphilly Castle to the Principality Stadium, most of us are all too familiar with the landmarks of south Wales. But how many people can say they've experienced them from the air?

A new helicopter tour promises to let you do just that, flying passengers from Cardiff to Caerphilly and back again to take in some of the most stunning views in the country. Taking just 20 minutes the whistlestop tour is available for up to three passengers and is labelled as an ideal gift for birthdays and other celebrations.

Taking off from Cardiff Heliport in Tremorfa the sightseeing tour firstly takes fliers over Cardiff Bay, with famous landmarks including the Pierhead Building, Senedd, Wales Millennium Centre, and the Barrage all on show, as well as the set of Casualty and the St David's Hotel.

From there the flight follows the River Taff to the city centre capturing aerial views of the capital's sporting venues including the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Arms Park, and the Cardiff City Stadium as well as Sophia Gardens cricket ground. It's then time to head north and from castle to castle, flying from Cardiff Castle to Castell Coch and the ancient beech woods of Fforest Fawr. Continuing over Caerphilly Mountain you'll get stunning views of Caerphilly Castle, the largest in Wales and the second-largest in Britain.

The final stop is the stunning sculpture of Sultan the Pit Pony (Wingly)

The final stop on the tour promises to be the most spectacular of all with the helicopter hovering over the incredible sculpture of Sultan the Pit Pony a few miles north of Caerphilly. Built as a tribute to the pit ponies of Wales the 200m artwork is made entirely out of tons of waste coal fragments and, despite seeming like a small set of hills from ground level, when viewed from above it reveals itself to be a breathtaking sculpture of a galloping pony.

After 20 minutes in the air the helicopter then turns back towards Cardiff, providing another opportunity to view the city from above before touching down at the heliport. Offered by Wingly, tickets for the experience start at £135 per passenger. While flight dates are not guaranteed and are dependent on the weather there is 'flexible' availability throughout 2023. You can book your tickets through Wingly here.
