Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Thursday, 11 May, 2023.
Awoniyi sums up Gibbs-White
Taiwo Awoniyi is excited by the potential in Nottingham Forest’s attacking arsenal as relationships continue to develop on the pitch.
The Reds scored some superb goals as they saw off Southampton 4-3 on Monday evening. And with youth on the side of those at the heart of some of the team’s best forward play, it is hoped there is plenty more to come.
Awoniyi was teed up by Brennan Johnson for his first goal of the night, then latched on to a Danilo flick for his second. Johnson won the penalty which allowed Morgan Gibbs-White to net the team’s third, while the fourth was up there with one of Forest’s best moves of the season.

Man United to hold Henderson talks
Dean Henderson is reportedly set to hold talks with Manchester United over his long-term future after spending the season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
The 25-year-old has impressed during his time at the City Ground but has not played for the club since the Reds beat Leicester City in January after having surgery on a thigh injury.
Henderson's injury has ruled him out for the rest of the campaign as Forest responded in January by signing former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas on loan until the end of the season.
And it appears unlikely that the Red Devils shot-stopper will remain at Steve Cooper's side next season.
Nottingham Forest ‘in the running’ for transfer
Nottingham Forest are one of two Premier League clubs showing an interest in a summer transfer for Sporting Clube de Portugal winger Nuno Santos, according to reports in Portugal.
Despite uncertainty over which league the club will be playing in next season, plans will already be in place for the summer transfer window . The side will have targets in mind for both the Premier League and the Championship next season.
According to OJogo (via SportWitness ), one of the targets if they do achieve survival is Santos, although the club would face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers with both clubs following the player ‘for a long time'.
2023/24 start date confirmed
The start date for the 2023/24 season has been confirmed, even if Nottingham Forest don’t yet know what division they will be playing in.
The Reds will be hoping that it’s another season of Premier League football at the City Ground . Steve Cooper ’s side currently sit in 16th position in the league, three points clear of the relegation zone.
There are, however, still three games of the season left to play, meaning there still could be more twists and turns. Forest take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday with their fate in their own hands.
Should they be successful in fighting the drop, then the fixtures for their Premier League season will be released on Thursday, June 15 at 9am. The season will then kick off on the weekend of August 12-13.
