The company behind Scotland’s first inland surfing destination has appointed three new senior team members, as construction continues near Edinburgh.
Ian Williams, Mark Stewart and Selina Moore join Lost Shore Surf Resort, which is set to be the home of Europe’s largest inland surfing lagoon.
Ian Williams has been appointed joint chief operating officer and joins from The Wave in Bristol, where he helped open and establish the world’s first Wavegarden as operations director.
He has 35 years of experience in running large scale leisure facilities, including Whitbread pubs, David Lloyd health clubs, Haven Holiday holiday parks and the Eden Project in Cornwall as operations director.
Mark Stewart will be the other joint chief operating officer.
His previous role was with the UK’s largest surfing and snow sports retailer, Freeze Pro Shop, heading up operations and surf purchasing in Scotland.
Stewart had previously worked with Andy Hadden, founder of Lost Shore Surf Resort, on developing innovative solutions to recycling wetsuits.
Selina Moore joins as head of finance, strengthening the existing senior management team as a qualified chartered accountant.
She has more than 17 years experience working in finance teams for a variety of property investment, construction and development companies, including Cruden Homes and Sandstone UK.
When open, Lost Shore Surf Resort should produce around 1,000 waves per hour. It will be suitable for all levels, with surfboard and wetsuit hire available, as well as tuition.
In addition to the 150 metre long surfing lagoon, there will be accommodation lodges and pods, a spa, food market and surf therapy centre.
The development will use the latest wave generation technology, called the Wavegarden Cove, developed by Wavegarden in the Basque Country.

Stewart said: “Alongside the great team at Lost Shore, I hope to make this amazing project into a force for good - I cannot wait to see our first customers enjoying the waves and using our accommodation.”
Moore added: “All of the team have great passion and dedication for surfing and making this innovative project a success.”
