LUCKNOW: Lucknow's athletes and general public will soon have a new running track at Janeshwar Mishra Park as the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) plans to construct a new track and repair the old one using funds from its infrastructure budget.
According to officials, the park already has a jogging track, but it is not in good condition. Therefore, it has been decided to build a new one after LDA vice-president Indramani Tripathi recently inspected the park.
Speaking to TOI, Tripathi said, "A detailed project report (DPR) has been requested for the running track. We estimate that around Rs 55 lakh will be required for its construction, which will be arranged from the infrastructure fund."
Junior engineer Sanjay Bhati, who is preparing the DPR, said, "Our initial plan is to build a track along the artificial lake in the park. However, the exact length and width will be finalized after the DPR survey."
The park currently has a daily footfall of around 2,500 to 3,000 in the morning. He said that with the addition of this new track, the park will have two such tracks to accommodate people as the first track will also be repaired.
