North Melbourne recruit Zac Fisher will have a point to prove when he faces former AFL club Carlton for the first time.
And the forward-turned-defender is ready to try and stop the high-octane Blues attack that used to be his home.
Fisher played 107 games and booted 53 goals for Carlton, mostly as a small forward, across seven seasons.
After just 12 games last year, Fisher requested a trade to the Kangaroos and will face his former teammates for the first time in the Good Friday match at Marvel Stadium.
"I'm also excited for that as well," Fisher said at the Royal Children's Hospital on Monday.
"It'll be a bit weird playing on ex-teammates but obviously looking forward to it.
"They're a really good team at the moment and hopefully I get the (Matt) Cottrell match-up, that'd be nice.
"Getting traded, you always want to prove yourself to your old club.
"But I think the process is the same. I'll prepare the same and at the end of the day it's just another game of footy."
When asked if he'd go back and forth with his ex-teammates, Fisher said: "potentially.
"I don't know how it will be. I'm sure there'll be a bit of chirp out there."
Fisher largely spent his days at the Blues roving at the feet of Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay, but also time off half-back late last year.
Now a full-time defender at North, the 25-year-old will hope to offer some insight into how to stop Carlton's potent attack.
"They've got a bit of firepower down there with Charlie and Harry and all the small brigade," Fisher said.
"So I think just getting it to the ground and putting as much time into those guys (as possible) and rebounding off them and going at them."
Fisher has relished his change of scenery, and new role, in a run-and-gun North Melbourne team that has shown promise in two early losses.
"It's quick. It's good. I'm really enjoying it - it really suits my game, I feel," he said.
"Every game I'm playing down at half-back I feel like I'm getting better with the system and learning the ways of the trade of a defender.
"It's been good."
Former teammate and Blues defender Mitch McGovern added of Fisher: "He's going well now down back.
"We had a joke that we're a couple of rejected forwards playing down back now.
"It's good to see him getting the opportunity there and playing some good footy."
