Craig McGuffie was sold on a move to Queens by Marvin Bartley’s vision for the club.
The 25-year-old was released by Falkirk at the end of last season and after speaking to the manager he knew Palmerston was for him.
The midfielder will also be looking at the fixtures, which get released on Friday, with one eye on his old club.
He said: “It all happened really quickly. I left Falkirk and went and met Marvin a month ago and we had a good chat and I was excited by what he was planning to do.
“I’m looking forward to going back to play against Falkirk. I don’t need to prove myself to anyone there I just need to prove it to myself so I’ll be looking for that game when the fixtures come out.
“The league is wide open it always is. It’s always quite tight and anyone can beat anyone but we’re not really setting any ridiculous targets early on. We’re just going to take each game as it comes but we’ll go into each game thinking we can win it – so that’s a positive sign.”
McGuffie had his first taste of football ahead of the new season with Saturday’s
1-1 draw away to East Kilbride.
He’s been enjoying getting up to speed as pre-season training continues this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to Livingston. He also gave fans a hint of what’s to come from him in a Queens shirt.
“I like to play anywhere across the front. I like playing on the right and cutting in. I can play on the left, in the 10. I don’t feel like I’m tied to any position. But I’ve played predominantly off the right and cutting inside on the left.”
