A new pumpkin picking farm is to open in Ayrshire ahead of Halloween.

Alton Villa in Newmilns has launched a series of sessions in the run-up to the annual spooktacular celebration.

Sessions start on Saturday, October 8 and will run every weekend until Sunday, October 30.

Tickets cost £2, which can be deducted from the price of a pumpkin and each session lasts 90 minutes.

Small pumpkins cost £5, while medium ones are £8 and large are priced between £10 and £12.

Organisers said: "We are serving some food, tea and coffee. We have card facilities but the wifi isn’t the best so cash would be preferable please.

"There are hand washing facilities and a Portaloo available on site.

"We have an undercover area where children can colour in their own pumpkin and have photos taken

"Weather permitting there will be a bouncy castle slide outside for the children.

"This experience has been designed for everyone to enjoy and we want to make sure you do! we welcome feedback so please do let us know your thoughts!"

Organisers also warned pumpkin pickers to wear wellies as the farm is muddy and is on a bumpy track.

They also said children should be supervised at all times and to make sure and wrap up warm.
