New Poll Reveals Tight Race Between Trump and Biden
A recently released brand-new poll of registered voters has shown a close race between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. The poll conducted by SSRS indicates that Trump currently leads with 49 percent among registered voters, while Biden follows closely behind with 45 percent. Although Trump's lead is just outside the margin of error, the race remains extremely tight.
A comparison with the previous poll conducted in late October to early November shows that neither candidate has seen any significant movement in their numbers. The race remains identical to the previous polling at 49-45 percent in favor of Trump. The stability of these numbers suggests that the competition between the two candidates is evenly poised.
The poll also explored a hypothetical general election scenario involving Joe Biden and Republican figure Nikki Haley. The results revealed that Haley would have a favorable position, securing 52 percent support among registered voters against Biden's 39 percent. Despite this positive outcome, Haley still faces difficulties in the Republican nomination race, with only 19 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters indicating their preference for her in the 2024 presidential nomination.
Both Trump and Biden continue to face challenges when it comes to their public image. The poll showed that both candidates have unfavorable ratings higher than their favorable ratings. Biden stands at 39 percent favorable and 34 percent favorable, while Trump faces 39 percent and 37 percent respectively.
Significantly, the motivations of each candidate's supporters differ greatly. Among Biden supporters, 68 percent stated they are voting against Trump, while only 60 percent of Trump supporters claimed to be voting for Trump rather than against Biden. This shows a clear disparity in the reasons behind their respective support bases.
When it comes to policy views, 61 percent of registered voters perceive Biden's policies as mainstream, compared to just 37 percent for Trump. On the contrary, 38 percent of respondents view Biden's policies as too extreme, while a significant majority of 63 percent believe Trump's policies fall into this category.
Additionally, Biden's approval rating stands at 38 percent, which has shown limited movement over the past year. This relatively low approval rating suggests that voters have reservations about Biden despite their dislike for Trump.
In an open-ended question, concerns about Trump among Republican and Republican-leaning voters varied. While 19 percent stated they had no concerns, 15 percent mentioned his rhetoric as their primary concern. For Biden, the top concern among Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters was his age, with 46 percent expressing worry, while only 9 percent claimed to have no concerns. Other concerns included the economy, Israel and the Middle East, and mental sharpness.
Overall, the poll highlights the closely contested nature of the race between Trump and Biden. As the 2024 election approaches, both candidates face challenges in improving their public image and effectively addressing voters' concerns.
