New Poll Shows Tight Race Between Trump And Harris

Donald Trump to testify in New York civil fraud trial

A recent national poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal has revealed interesting insights into the current political landscape. In a two-way matchup among registered voters, former President Donald Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris by a narrow margin, with Trump at 49% and Harris at 47%.

Comparing this poll to the previous one released in early July, it is evident that President Joe Biden has faced a decline in support, trailing Trump by 6 percentage points. The survey indicates that Harris is performing better than Biden among voter groups that typically lean Democratic, such as voters of color and younger voters.

One notable finding from the survey is the surge in enthusiasm among Democrats for their presumptive nominee. The data shows that 76% of voters now feel enthusiastic about their preferred presidential candidate, a significant increase from the previous 44%. This rise in enthusiasm is particularly prominent among Democrats, with approximately 4 in 5 voters from both parties expressing enthusiasm for their nominee.

When independent and third-party candidates are factored into the presidential matchup, Harris garners 45% of voter support, closely followed by Trump at 44%. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. secures 4% of the vote, with other candidates polling at 1% or less.

The poll results highlight the dynamic nature of the current political climate and the shifting preferences among voters. As the 2024 presidential election approaches, these findings provide valuable insights into the evolving voter sentiments and candidate preferences.
