New Patrick Vieira footage shows level of abuse moments before he kicked Everton fan

New footage from Goodison Park has shown the extent of abuse received by Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira that caused him to lash out at an Everton fan on Thursday night.

Toffees fans invaded the pitch at full-time after their side produced an incredible comeback to recover from two goals down and win 3-2. Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all scored in the second half to send Everton supporters wild after Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew had put the Eagles into a 2-0 lead at half-time.

A small pitch invasion followed Calvert-Lewin's winner before thousands more fans invaded the pitch at full-time sparking safety concerns for the Crystal Palace players and coaching staff. Footage emerged soon after the full-time whistle of Vieira involved in an altercation with a fan which resulted in him trying to kick the antagoniser. A video has since surfaced online showing the incident from a fan's perspective, with the phone being held to Vieira's face while the user shouts: "Suck on that, you muppet. Get in."

Vieira was asked about the incident in his post-match press conference and said: "I do not have anything to say about that." On Friday morning, the Football Association opened an investigation into the incident. Everton manager Frank Lampard was sympathetic for Vieira on the matter, telling reporters: "I feel for Patrick. I didn't get him at the end. I would have said: 'Come in with us,' although he might not have wanted that. Of course, he ran 80 yards across the pitch and it’s not easy."
