New Orleans Saints star sends emotional message following cancer treatment

New Orleans Saints tight end Foster Moreau has confirmed that he is in full remission after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier this year.

The 26-year-old was found to have cancer when signing with the Saints, after spending the first four years of his career with the Las Vegas Raiders after being a free agent.

Coming off a career year in 2022 - with 33 catches for 420 yards and two touchdown receptions with the Raiders - Moreau was set for a big role with the Saints, before his world was rocked after undergoing his physical to be told of the diagnosis.

And just four months short of revealing the scary news, Moreau has posted an emotional message revealing that he in remission and is looking forward to concentrating back on football this season.

He posted on Twitter : "After a few tumultuous months, I’ve been blessed with the news that I am in full remission from Hodgkin Lymphoma!

"I’m so grateful to everyone who reached out to offer their love and support; our prayers were answered. From here I will continue to live my life as God intended."

After meeting with the Saints, he revealed the diagnosis by saying: "Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this Free Agency period has been life changing for me. During a routine physical conducted by the Saints medical team down in New Orleans, I’ve come to learn that I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and will be stepping away from football at this time to fight a new opponent: Cancer.

"I’m grateful for the support and thankful for the people who have stood firm with me. There hasn’t been a single step I’ve taken without hundreds of people lighting the path before me and I will continue to seek their guidance. That being said, I’ll go kick this thing’s ass and get back to doing what I love!"

While fighting the disease, Moreau signed a three-year deal, $12 million (£9.4m) with the Saints - with the hope of him playing in the 2023 season, which now looks to come to fruition.

Hodgkin's lymphoma is one of the more curable form's of cancer and usually has a better outlook than non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the body's germ-fighting immune system. Moreau will now play for his hometown team, having grown up in New Orleans and played for the local prestigious college LSU.
