The Houston Texans and the New Orleans Saints have elected to cancel joint practices ahead of the final week of the NFL preseason. The pair of practice sessions were originally set for Aug. 24 and Aug. 25, but both teams released a statement on the decision shortly after the Saints’ 22-17 road victory over the Los Angeles Chargers:
“Our two teams have mutually agreed to cancel the joint practices that were scheduled in New Orleans on Thursday, August 24 and Friday, August 25. After our head coaches spoke earlier today, we decided this was in the best interest of both teams as we continue to prepare for the regular season. A revised practice schedule for each team will be communicated once finalized.”
As was reported by NewOrleans.Football’s Brooke Kirchhofer, injuries on the Texans’ side are what led to the decision as both sides felt they could not have productive joint practices.
The #Saints cancelling joint practices with the Texans came after DA talked to DeMeco Ryans. The Texans have new injuries and both sides felt like they couldn’t have productive joint practices. That’s why they cancelled.

The Saints will close out the preseason and look to remain undefeated in preseason as they face the Texans at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday, returning home to the Caesars Superdome.
