A loss to the Carolina Panthers was the final straw for Dennis Allen as New Orleans Saints head coach.
The team parted ways with Allen on Monday after the 23-22 loss to Carolina.
The Saints’ season started with so much promise. They won two games in rousing fashion.
What followed was a stunning collapse. New Orleans has lost seven games in a row and sits last in the NFC South via tiebreakers.
Allen was 18-25 in 43 games as Saints head coach.
Previously, he was 8-28 as Raiders head coach from 2012 part of the 2014 season.
The interim coach will be Darren Rizzi, the special teams coaches and one of the new kickoff’s architects.
