New Orleans Saints 2023 NFL draft scouting report: Florida State DB Jammie Robinson

One thing is clear with the New Orleans Saints approach to free agency this season, they’re not happy with their defensive back depth. They’ve added some competition already, but they’re likely to look to the draft for another body.

One player whose talent level does not match up with his projected draft range, is Florida State defensive back Jammie Robinson. The idea of getting a player with his skillset in day three of the draft is mouth watering.

He started his career in South Carolina where he spent two seasons, but opted for a change of scenery for his last two years as a Seminole. He averaged just under seven tackles a game in his 47-game career, adding on 15.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He also performed well in coverage, with seven interceptions and 16 passes broken up.

The ideal situation for Jammie is that he grows into a bigger version of Tyrann Mathieu for the Saints. He’s a great leader that can play anywhere on the field. Put him in slot, in the box, deep safety, linebacker, rush him off the edge, whatever you want. The worry with him would that he might be a jack of all trades, but master of none when it comes to the defensive side of the ball. He doesn’t have super long arms, but he seems to be more of a guy where you watch him on film and don’t overthink his NFL projection. He’s a producer.
