Law enforcement officials are currently reviewing a series of video recordings made by the suspect in the New Orleans attack before Wednesday morning. The recordings, made while driving at night, do not show the suspect due to the darkness. However, authorities believe the recordings were made as he traveled from Texas to Louisiana, though the exact timing remains unclear.
In the recordings, the suspect can be heard referencing his divorce and discussing his initial plan to gather his family for a 'celebration' with the intention of killing them. Two officials briefed on the material in the recordings revealed this information. The suspect also mentioned changing his plans and claimed to have joined ISIS. He spoke about several dreams he had that influenced his decision to join the terrorist organization.
