New on DVD: Bradley Cooper takes a trip down 'Nightmare Alley'

Guillermo del Toro’s remake of a 1947 film noir about a drifter's rise and fall tops the DVD releases for the week of March 22.

"Nightmare Alley": Bradley Cooper stars as a circus mentalist who takes his act to the nightclubs and encounters a dangerous psychoanalyst who he teams up with to scam wealthy people, with less than ideal results.

"The film operates on a peculiar, somewhat languid rhythm, and there are times when the story’s needs take a back seat to the visual detail, writes Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Phillips in his review." But 'Nightmare Alley' has nerve and relentless, fantastic style.
