A new Netflix series has received a perfect 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and has been hailed as the streaming giant’s “best original show” in years. Released on the platform on Thursday (April 6), BEEF follows the aftermath of a road rage incident between two strangers.
Described by Netflix as “darkly comedic and deeply moving,” it stars The Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun alongside Always Be My Maybe actress and comedian Ali Wong. In it, Danny Cho (Yeun), a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, goes head-to-head with Amy Lau (Wong), a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life, as the increasing stakes of their feud unravel their lives and relationships.
The 10-part series comes from the mind of South Korean writer Lee Sung Jin, who was recently tapped to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe by penning the script for upcoming antihero blockbuster Thunderbolts. It is produced by independent studio A24, the company behind a host of acclaimed films including Lady Bird, Uncut Gems, The Lighthouse, The Whale and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

It also produced hit teen drama Euphoria. BEEF has been met with rave reviews from critics, currently boasting a perfect 100 percent Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The hostile chemistry between Steven Yeun and Ali Wong makes it even better. This is Netflix's ‘Best’ original show of the last five years.”

@MNMillerFilmRev echoed: “You won’t see a better new series all year. A perfect blend of dark comic thrills and revealing moments of mental health that are deeply felt. BEEF is frenetic, hilarious, anxiety-ridden, and wholly original.”
@shikhar2907 added: “BEEF has to be one of the sharpest, funniest, and strangely poignant things you'll see all year. It balances its tonal shifts like an absolute champ, and Ali Wong and Steven Yeun are rockstars to make it all work so seamlessly.”
The series has also gone down a storm with general audiences, with fans flocking to social media within hours of it dropping on Netflix to sing its praises. @dumbass_emo said: “Oh god why did I start watching A24’s BEEF on Netflix at 3am I can’t stop watching it, it’s so good.”
@OhMyMithrandir added: “BEEF is on Netflix and it HITS. It’s the kind of mean and unhinged series that makes you hate everyone but also makes you press ‘next episode’. Steven and Ali are superbly awful in the best kind of ways.”
@jashoney2004 added: “Just started Beef on Netflix, and I already love it.”
Season one of BEEF is available to stream on Netflix now.
