New mum 'terrified' after being warned her new house is 'haunted' by small child

A new mum has been left 'terrified' after she was warned that her new house is haunted.

Taking to a popular online forum, she asked if there was any way to check if someone had died in a house. She explained that she is currently getting her new home renovated but her brother was spooked after having a paranormal experience.

She gave her brother a set of keys to check up on the house while they were not in it, but on Mumsnet, she said that he ran out of the house after seeing a small child in the property.

She added that the only thing that was left the house was a crib in the attack.

Hundreds of other Mumsnet users flocked to the comments. However despite her concerns, many told her to stop worrying.

In the post, the woman explained: "Currently having the house we just bought renovated. We aren't living in it yet and because it is near where my brother lives and we have a newborn we gave him a set of keys to go and check up on builders etc.

"Yesterday he went to the house after work and video-called me to show me the progress. While he was there he suddenly said how just saw a small child in the house and he ran out of the house and locked the front door and left.

"He isn't the pranking type and also isn't the superstitious type, nor am I. But I am a total wimp and cannot watch any type of horror or anything and I'm now terrified. In the loft, there was an old cot and nothing else. I've also got a year's worth of maternity leave and imagine I'll be home alone with the baby while my husband is at work."

She asked: "Does anyone know how to find out if there was ever a death in the house or a building?"

Many took to the comments to point out that unless the house is brand-new, it's very likely that someone would have passed away. While other's questioned if it was actually a living child.

One wrote: "Are you sure it was a ghost small child or has your brother inadvertently locked your new neighbour's curious kiddo in your house and done a runner?"

Another echoed: "What did he mean he saw a small child? Doing what? Did he check it wasn't actually just someone's child who had wandered in?! What was this child doing?"

"I lived in a house with something like a ghost. Didn't believe in them and my husband one million per cent didn't believe in them. After six months there one drunken night, we each confessed what we had sensed....the exact same figure in the exact same part of the house," a third interjected. "So I don't think you're being silly....but I would say our ghost meant no harm and definitely wasn't like a horror film."
