Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) unveiled Tuesday to the press a mass-produced car for its new Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train.
The about 27-meters-long front of the N700S model was slowly lifted by a crane and put on a trailer at a Nippon Sharyo Ltd. factory in Toyokawa, Aichi Prefecture.
The new train will start operations on July 1.
A characteristic of the new train is that passengers onboard will feel less of a rolling effect for more comfort.
Initially, five trains will be introduced, with the number increasing to 40 by fiscal 2022.
