New Lord of the Rings TV series trailer premieres at SuperBowl halftime show

The latest trailer for the 2022 TV series 'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' dropped at the SuperBowl, four years after Amazon secured the rights to the $1 billion franchise.

The series, which will start streaming in September, is set thousands of years before the original stories by JRR Tolkein.

The minute-long clip was shown during the SuperBowl hosted in Los Angeles last night, and gave an insight into what the new show will look like, with the focus on Tolkien's Second Age and the forging of the powerful rings.

At the start of the clip, a young female voice can be heard saying: "What else is out there?

"There's wonders in this world beyond our wandering. I can feel it."

Upon its debut, viewers hailed it as “incredible”, “jaw-dropping” and “magnificent”.

Twitter also reacted to the trailer, with one tweet reading: "The only reason the super bowl was worth watching was for the new Lord of the rings movie trailer."

A further tweet said: "me not caring about the super bowl vs. me being like this when I saw the trailer for the lord of the rings show."

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 2 September.
