A NEW look cinema is now open after being bought over as part of a £22 million takeover.
Known for years as the Empire Cinema, the movie hall at a Glasgow shopping centre has been reopened under the rebranded Omniplex banner.
In a post by the Irish cinema group on social media, bosses thanked Bankies for their patience whilst they worked on revamping the much-loved site.
It read: “We've been working hard behind the scenes to get your cinema back in action as quickly as possible.
“We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through this transition and look forward to sharing our plans with you all very soon.”
Following Empire’s collapse, six cinemas across England were closed by administrators, with 150 jobs lost.
However, the cinema located at Clydebank Shopping Centre, alongside ones in Birmingham, Ipswich and High Wycombe, was kept open as a new buyer was sought, due to being classed as one of the operator's "profitable" sites.
It is also known among cinema-goers for serving hot butter with its popcorn.
And now, once again, film enthusiasts can settle down to an old favourite or a new release, with Omniplex revealing it will be showing movies such as Home Alone, Elf and Love Actually as well as Wish and Napoleon.
