New Look branch shutting in Swansea

Fashion retail giant 'New Look' has announced it will be closing its branch at Morfa Shopping Park.

The soon-to-be empty unit joins the likes of Frankie & Benny's and Outfit to leave Morfa.

The park was created around the Liberty Stadium with people venturing there for it's wide selection of discount clothing, electronics, fast-food restaurants and homeware.

It has been a hotspot for Christmas shopping in recent years with traffic delays and parking chaos hitting the area in December.

In an announcement on Facebook, New Look said it would be closing its doors on February 4.

The post read: "Newlook Morfa, this isn't goodbye. This store will be closing on 04/02/22 but you can still shop your favourite styles Instore at our other local stores or Online"

It added: "Thank you everyone for the continued support, we will miss all of our wonderful and loyal customers and everyone who has ever worked in-store with us all, over the many years."

It's not known if staff will move to New Look's other Swansea stores - in the city centre and Parc Fforestfach.

Customers of the women's clothing store have been reacting to the closure.

One said: "Why close a store where staff are amazing, parking is easy, you have park and ride nearby?"

Others were left "gutted" by the decision, claiming it was "stupid", and some questioned what impact the closure would mean, with one customer arguing "this is devastating for the staff and for the area".

A number of retail parks have seen closures of late, with Parc Trostre in Llanelli losing a number of shops.

A New Look spokesperson said: “Regrettably, the New Look store in Swansea will be closing in February after the landlord decided to exit the lease early.

"Whilst it was therefore not our decision to close the store, we are focusing on supporting our store colleagues and where possible finding alternative roles for them within the business. Customers will still be able to shop the styles they love online at newlook.com or by downloading our app.”
