New look Aldi supermarket to be unveiled to Ayrshire shoppers this week

A new-look Aldi store is set to open its doors in Ayrshire later this week.

The Ayr shop will reopen to customers on Thursday at 8am following a makeover in less than a week.

The Main Street shop closed for a refit on Saturday with supermarket bosses promising "a more customer-focused layout with more space for the products."

The renovation of the 1,410 sqm shop, which employs 28 people, is part of Aldi’s £600 million investment into further improving its stores and services across the UK.

Aldi chiefs say the new-look store offers increased space, dedicated to fresh Scottish meat and fish, as well as popular Lacura health and beauty products, award winning Scottish craft beers, wines and spirits, famous Mamia babycare products, and a new and improved Food to Go section, offering a choice of fresh salads, sandwiches and sushi for busy customers.

And Aldi say the new look store will proudly stock over 450 Scottish products from over 90 suppliers across the country.

The transformation is also set to create more jobs, bosses have confirmed.

Customers visiting the store can still take advantage of Aldi’s famous Specialbuys, which are available every Thursday and Sunday. During re-opening week, the store will be offering a range of toys and children’s bedding, including Squishmallows, Crystalina Dolls and single licensed duvet sets - available in Barbie, Batman, My Little Pony and Minecraft.

Aldi store manager David Tudhope said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves.

"We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and services they’re used to.”

The store, which has 112 car parking spaces, is located on 33 Main Street, Ayr, KA8 8BU and will be open: Monday to Saturday 8am to 10pm and Sunday 9am to 8pm.
