New LGBTQ+ Bristol radio station Gaydio to launch in the city

Bristol is set to gain a new DAB+ digital radio station sharing music and talk from an LGBTQ+ perspective. Gaydio will launch in the city on January 9.

Gaydio focuses on championing LGBTQ+ artists and aims to highlight stories about and relevant to the community. The station says that it aspires to be "the place that the UK’s LGBTQ+ community feels at home, proudly reflecting the lives of our audience as they wake up, commute, work and socialise."

Last year Gaydio was a headline partner of Bristol Pride and plans to continue collaborating with LGBTQ+ events and organisations across the city.

The station's daily line-up offers a mix of chat, guests and upbeat dance and pop, including Paris & Dave from 7 am, followed by Kriss Herbert and Chris Blackmore while Brett Harris wraps up the day. In the evenings and on weekends, top DJs, such as Purple Disco Machine, MK, and Tiesto, join Gaydio's resident DJs, Craig Law and Jessie Brooke.

First airing in Manchester in 2006, Gaydio has grown into a national brand broadcasting on DAB across Greater London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Brighton & Portsmouth. As part of a new expansion, the station is launching on DAB+ digital radio in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, as well as Bristol this January.

The first-ever Gaydio Pride Awards with Hilton are due to take place in Manchester on February 10. Performing on the night will be the winner of Drag Race UK S4 Danny Beard, singer Raye and DJ/producer Sigala.
