New Lebanese restaurant set to open in Bristol's Finzels Reach as signage appears

Signs have been erected for a new Lebanese restaurant in the city centre overlooking Bristol's floating harbour. Lamaya is set to occupy the site in Fermentation Buildings South on Hawkins Lane in Finzels Reach.

The restaurant first launched in Swindon, closing its site in Regent Circus last year. Plans for the Bristol site first emerged in May 2022 and it is not clear what has stalled the opening. Construction is now well underway and BristolLive has reached out to Lamaya for an opening date.

Plans show that Lamaya intends to serve alcohol only inside, with no outdoor area for drinking alcohol. The opening hours applied for are seven days a week, from 11am to 11pm.

Lamaya is one of several new additions in the area alongside bean-to-bar chocolate bar shop, Ruby Hue as well as the BBC relocating to new studios. Part of the rich brewing history at Finzels Reach, The Fermentation Buildings have been given a new lease of life in recent years as a mix of hospitality businesses and office space for companies including Channel 4.

The Lebanese restaurant will be in the same lane as Bocabar and wine lounge Le Vignoble as well as being close to the neighbouring Compressor Building which houses brewpub Left Handed Brewery. It was previously known for its small plates, falafel, hummus, pitta and cocktails.
