New Las Vegas service confirmed by British Airways with three flights a week

Extra flights to Las Vegas have been announced by British Airways to capitalise in the surge in popularity for the Nevada destination. A new service will operate from Gatwick Airport from March 26 to October 28, 2023, and tickets are already on sale.

The airline already flies to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas from Heathrow serving thousands of tourists and business visitors each year. However, Las Vegas is still primarily known for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife.

The Gatwick route will use Boeing 777-200 aircraft and operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Ticket prices will commence at £426, based on a return journey in the airline's World Traveller (economy) cabin.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) said the he new Gatwick route is likely to be “hugely popular” for UK travellers hoping to explore the destination. The city welcomed its highest monthly visitor numbers since the start of the pandemic in July.

Almost 3.5 million people visited the desert city during the month and overall hotel occupancy reached 83 per cent – with weekend occupancy rates topping 91 per cent. It is expecting to welcome even more tourists from the UK next year with the Las Vegas Grand Prix announced as the newest event on the Formula One motor racing calendar.

More than 100,000 tickets are expected to be sold for the event, which is expected to take place towards the end of the race season once schedules are announced.
