Lisa Darmanin has been sworn in as Australia's newest senator following the death of Linda White.
The former lawyer and union official died in February from cancer at age 64.
Senator Darmanin has filled the vacancy as the new Labor senator for Victoria.
She was welcomed into the upper house by her colleagues on Monday, after being walked into the chamber by Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong and Assistant Trade Minister Tim Ayres.
Senator Darmanin served as the Australian Services Union secretary.
She was appointed to the vacant Senate spot after a joint sitting of the Victorian Parliament on May 29.
