Celtic are reportedly braced to receive a £10million transfer offer for Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Scottish Sun reports Ligue 1 club Rennes are desperate to land a striker this month with the Japanese forward an active target.
Kyogo's future at Celtic has come into the spotlight in the January transfer window after the MLS accidentally published a story suggesting he had signed for Atlanta.
An apology was issued over the error with the MLS club moving on to different targets.
Rennes have now emerged as possible suitors for Kyogo with a £10m possible this month.
However, according to reports in France sporting director Frederic Massara has not sanctioned an official bid being table for Kyogo.
It's thought Rennes boss Jorge Sampaoli wants Kyogo in this window to help turn around the club's fortunes in Ligue 1 this season.

Kyogo, 29, remains first-choice at Celtic and scored a double against Ross County last weekend.
Brendan Rodgers has insisted Celtic are prepared for all eventualities and won't prevent a player from moving on if they wish to leave the club.
However, it's reported business for first-team players is unlikely to be sanctioned until after the crucial Champions League league phase matches against Young Boys and Aston Villa later this month.
"I think for us as a club we prepare for all eventualities," Rodgers said recently. "Whether it's injuries, whether it's transfers.
"I think you just have to, you always have to be ready, and that's our message.
"For Kyogo, at this moment in time, he's happy, he's working well, he's scoring goals, and enjoying his football."
