A new karaoke and cocktail bar is all set to open in Altrincham. Called Alibi, the bar has been three years in the making, and is the new project from the people behind the Alti market-adjacent Common Ground.
The bar - which is on Shaw’s Street, in the unit next door to their coffee shop - was all set to open before the pandemic, however lockdown significantly delayed the plans. But it’s now all set to open on September 2. The spot will be open from Thursday to Sunday every week, and for private hire at other times in the week, with the karaoke booth seating up to 16 people.
Common Ground founders Carl Peters and Richard Littman were also behind London bars and venues including Translate in Shoreditch, Steam & Rye in the City, The Coronet and The Mermaid Theatre.
Cocktails on offer include pun-tastic Livin La Vida Mocha (Amaro Montenegro, Koko Kanu, espresso and chocolate bitters) and the Matcha The Day, with Beefeater Gin, PX Sherry, apple and eucalyptus and a ‘secret matcha formula’.
Co-owner Carl Peters said: “We are so excited to be launching Alibi in Altrincham. It’s been a long time coming and we know it’s going to be a venue that is loved by locals of all ages. We’ve created the ideal space to unwind with friends and have some truly carefree fun after a long week.”
Other co-owner Richard Littman added: “We know the Altrincham nightlife scene well and we are confident that Alibi is going to be a popular spot with those who love to party. We’re getting everything ready for the launch in September when the karaoke machine will be geared up and the cocktails will be flowing. We can’t wait!”
