Liam Coen is expected to be the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s been a wild 48 hours or so, but the Jaguars ultimately landed their top choice.
At the top of the to-do list for Coen as he transitions into this new role will be maximizing Trevor Lawrence’s abilities–something he was able to do in Tampa Bay with Baker Mayfield.
Coen is reportedly also going to have a “real say” in the Jaguars’ general manager search as well.
The 2024 season was Coen’s first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although that wasn’t his first time holding the offensive coordinator title at the NFL level, it was the first year where Coen was the play-caller–and the results were impressive.
Mayfield would put together a career year in several categories, while the Bucs’ offense was the only one in football to rank top-five in scoring, rushing yards, and passing yards per game.
