Ireland's Fittest Family host Laura Fox has revealed RTE bosses approached her to do a screen test for the show.
The 2FM star replaces Mairead Ronan on the show, who quit earlier this year after ten years as host.
During a Q&A on Instagram, Laura told fans how she got the job.
She said: “I luckily got asked to do a screen test where we basically did a mock show.
“I love the show, so I was buzzed to get stuck into learning the scripts.
“The crew were all so sound and shout out to the family that were there that day, they were absolutely class!”
Laura said she left the screentest feeling great, knowing she had “thrown the kitchen sink at it”.
Laura previously told how she thought she was being asked to be part of one of the family’s competing on the show.
“When I got the call to audition I actually thought I was being asked to take part in some kind of Christmas special. So I asked my family would they come on with me. Then my agent called and clarified that it was not to take part but to actually present the whole thing. I was shocked.”
Olympic silver medalist Sonia O'Sullivan will become the newest coach as Anna Geary takes the season off to welcome her first child.
Commenting on taking on her new coaching role, Sonia said: “I have always loved Ireland’s Fittest Family as it’s a positive promotion of fitness, so it makes it extra special to be joining the line-up of coaches this year. I’ve big shoes to keep warm for Anna Geary, but of course I’m in it to win, so Donncha, Nina and Davy… I’m here to compete and I’m very excited to get started.”
