New IKEA store with a twist opens in Liverpool

A new IKEA store has opened in Liverpool today, December 14.

The new store, based at Aintree Racecourse Retail Park, is one of the beloved furniture brand’s ‘Plan and Order Points’. Unlike traditional IKEA stores, these smaller ventures are dedicated to kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning.

The new store comes as part of IKEA’s ongoing plan to make shopping in the North West more accessible and sustainable.

Visitors to the Plan and Order venue will be able to take advantage of home furnishing advice and expertise, with staff on hand to help design the desired space. Appointments can be booked to kick start a design with one of IKEA’s planning specialists.

Shoppers can also use the in-store self service tools to make designs of their own. The store differs again from standard IKEA outlets in that there are no items available to purchase and take home on the day.

Items snapped up and orders placed at Plan and Order points can be delivered to shoppers’ homes, or picked up from one of IKEA's collection points.

Michael Parker, area manager, IKEA UK, said: "Our investment in Plan and Order Points is part of our long-term plan to transform our retail business, making it easier for people in the Northwest to enjoy what IKEA offers using a variety of convenient ways. Our store in nearby Warrington, at home kitchen planning, online interior design and planning services, and now this new Plan and Order Point all complement each other. Together with our home delivery service and new, convenient collection options, we're enabling an IKEA that's there for our customers, however they want to meet us."

Cllr Marion Atkinson, cabinet member for Regeneration and Skills, Sefton Council, said: "We are thrilled that IKEA's brand new Plan and Order point opens today in Aintree, creating jobs and opportunities for many Sefton residents. For a global brand such as IKEA to see the potential to grow their business in Sefton, is testament to the hard work carried out by Sefton Council to attract both private and public sector investment to towns across our borough, showing that Sefton really is 'Open For Business'."

The new IKEA Plan and Order Point can be found at Unit 9A, Aintree Racecourse Retail Park, Ormskirk Road, Aintree, Liverpool, L9 5AL. It’s open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 8pm, and from 10am until 6pm on Sundays.
