A new housing development is set to deliver 408 homes in Maghull.
The development will be built on former green belt land about a mile from Maghull town centre. Planning permission has already been granted and will deliver 133 affordable homes, 53 private rented homes, and 222 homes for open market sale.
The site is part of a larger parcel of land known as ‘Land East of Maghull’, which has been earmarked for a minimum of 1,400 homes in Sefton’s local plan. Those living in Maghull have seen rapid development in recent years.

We spoke with people in Maghull about the new development and it divided opinion.
One man who has lived in Maghull since 1962 said: "There aren't enough facilities in here for all the houses they are building.
"I think they are building on any spare spot of land there are too many people. I'm for progress but I feel that it's a way of just grabbing money."
One man said: "I'm horrified and we have noticed a difference with the last housing development already you can't park on my street somedays. The land they want to build on is a haven for wildlife.
"These houses won't just have one person living in them so what services are these people going to be able to access it's going to be an absolute nightmare we don't need it."
As part of the development £3.2 million has been promised to invest in the local community. The majority will be used to extend the nearby Summerhill Primary School.
While also improving healthcare facilities and highways in Maghull. As well as funding a new bus service.
One woman said: "There are so many children on the Poppy Fields estate and it will be the same with the new one. Where are all these children going to go to school."
Some residents however have welcomed the news, one man said: "I think we need more affordable housing for the community
"Maghull is overcrowded and the council needs to expand on the infrastructure but all areas have got these problems and if we don't build affordable homes there will be no houses for young people.
"All areas are facing these problems and it is just something that we have to deal with."
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “The development of new houses across the borough is a key area identified in Sefton’s Local Plan.
“In addition to new housing, the developers are delivering a substantial contribution towards local community facilities, in areas such as public realm, health and, education.
"New business and commercial facilities are also agreed, in line with the provisions of the Local Plan and Maghull Neighbourhood Plan. All developments have been approved by an independent Planning Inspector.
“The Council continues to strive to create a high-quality, sustainable environment, which will meet the needs of current and future generations and provide more opportunities to live and work in Sefton’s outstanding borough.”
The development is set to be completed by 2026.
