New Hampshire Governor Predicts Tight Race In 2024 Election

Donald Trump to testify in New York civil fraud trial

Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, a prominent Republican figure, has recently expressed optimism about the state's potential to support former President Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Despite New Hampshire traditionally leaning Democratic in recent years, Sununu believes that Trump has a strong chance of performing well in the swing state.

Sununu highlighted concerns over President Biden's debate performance and growing doubts about his ability to lead the country for another term. He also pointed to issues such as inflation impacting average families, which could sway voters towards a change in leadership.

While Republicans like Sununu and Trump adviser Steve Stepanek are hopeful about New Hampshire's competitiveness, Democrats, including former state party chair Kathy Sullivan, remain skeptical. Democrats currently maintain a significant organizational advantage in terms of ground-game operations, with a robust campaign infrastructure already in place.

Despite his support for Trump, Sununu will not attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, emphasizing his commitment to his duties as governor. However, he plans to engage with the media remotely during the event.

One of the key aspects of the convention will be Trump's announcement of a running mate. Sununu suggested that selecting a governor as a running mate could enhance the former president's effectiveness in office, citing the need for a capable manager to support the demands of the presidency.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who is reportedly under consideration as a running mate, received praise from Sununu for his leadership qualities and potential contributions to a Trump administration.
