A plan to build a new Greggs or Costa in Kilmarnock has been binned.
Proposals had been submitted to open a new outlet behind the BP petrol station on Glasgow Road.
Detailed blueprints lodged with East Ayrshire Council planners show that the bakery giant and the coffee firm were being considered for the expansion behind the existing garage.
Plans would've seen the existing car wash demolished and a new adjoining building created for one of the retailers along with five new car park spaces and a bin store.
It's understood that the Greggs or Costa would've provided a 'food to go' offering.
But plans for the new development have been withdrawn by the applicant, Motor Fuel Limited.
The Coal Authority said that the site falls within a 'development high risk area' and objected to the plans because a Coal Mining Risk Assessment Report had not been submitted as part of the application.
The creation of a new retail unit would've meant a third bakery unit for Greggs in Kilmarnock or a third coffee shop for Costa in the town.
The new unit would've joined Tesco, Domino's Pizza and a host of other mixed retailers at the development.
