Grants from the Scottish Welfare Fund are available to those who are struggling in South Lanarkshire.
The Scottish Welfare fund helps families and individuals in Scotland who are on low incomes, it comes in different grants which are available to apply for through the council.
Two different types of grants are available: crisis grants and community care grants which are for people on low incomes and facing difficulties.
The crisis grants can provide emergency relief for issues like fire and floods in the home or for transport to visit a sick child in hospital.
If you qualify for a crisis grant, you may be given a cash grant or another form of support such as travel vouchers, furniture or a voucher for essential food, fuel or clothing.
Community care grants can help people leaving hospital, care or prison to live independently, it can help people to remain in their own home without having to go into care or to help families facing pressures.
This grant can also help if you are struggling to provide a safe home for your family, it can provide essential household items like a cooker or washing machine if you do not have money to buy the items.
You will be given goods instead of cash if you are awarded a community care grant and items will be delivered and installed.
To be eligible for crisis and community care grants you must be over the age of 16 and on a low income and normally entitled to universal credit or pension credit.
