New Glasgow Italian restaurant That's Fritto takes over former Oscar's site in Shawlands

An exciting new Italian restaurant is set to open in Shawlands.

That's Fritto have taken over the space vacated by Oscar's Bar and Kitchen on Kilmarnock Road, with posters recently appearing in the window for the Italian eatery.

Promising 'Sicilian Italian street food' and authentic flavours from southern Italy, That's Fritto also appear to be offering fish and chips at the popular spot on the corner of Skirving Street.

Interestingly, the owners are also behind the move to take over a popular former chippy on Coustonholm Road, just down the road in Shawlands, which they say is set to remain as their "Fritto Gourmet" venue.

The team shared images on Instagram of their signage going up at the former site of Oscar's (That's Fritto Instagram)

It appears to have been a quick changeover after the previous business at the site, Oscar's, hit the headlines due to what Unite Hospitality say was poor treatment of its staff, which you can read about here.

The group had previously shared a message from a member of senior management threatening to deduct tips from staff found to not be "applying themselves properly" on social media, forcing the owner to step in to resolve the problem.
