Harry Kane was once again making headlines on Saturday night. But, unfortunately for him and everyone of an England persuasion, it was for all the wrong reasons.
Having levelled things for England against France from the penalty spot in the World Cup quarter-final in Qatar, Kane was given another opportunity to do the same thing five minutes from time after Olivier Giroud had restored France's lead.
However, despite brilliantly dispatching his first spot-kick, Kane blazed a second shy from 12 yards high over the bar. And England could not fashion another chance as they bowed out of the competition at the last-eight stage.

The Three Lions were much the better team and on another day would have sent the reigning champions home first. But it was not to be and England are the ones coming home early, without the crown that has eluded them since 1966.
Kane is England's joint all-time top scorer and has done a huge amount for his country, scoring the goals to take them to the World Cup in the first place. But such a moment will take some getting over.
The Spurs man has said so himself, writing on Instagram: "Absolutely gutted. We’ve given it everything and it’s come down to a small detail which I take responsibility for. There’s no hiding from it, it hurts and it’ll take some time to get over it but that’s part of sport.
"Now it’s about using the experience to be mentally and physically stronger for the next challenge. Thanks for all the support throughout the tournament - it means a lot."
Kane received the backing of his England teammates at the final whistle and got a consoling hug from Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris, who was between the sticks for France. Kylian Mbappe could not hide his delight at the miss, seen on camera laughing and smiling straight after it happened.
And new footage has emerged of another France star twisting the knife - a France star who will be well known to Tottenham fans for being on rival sides in the Premier League on many occasions - Giroud.
The France players all celebrated, naturally as you would a penalty miss for the opposition late on in a game. But Giroud almost took it too far.
In new footage that has emerged from behind Lloris' goal, the former Arsenal and Chelsea man sprinted into the box and celebrated right next to Kane, who was aghast, before going off with his teammates. Not a good look, really, but emotions in a game of such magnitude can get the better of you.
