New footage exposes Jake Paul's contradictory excuse for Tommy Fury defeat

Jake Paul's claim he had health issues prior to his loss to Tommy Fury appears to have been disproved by new footage.

The YouTube star fought bitter rival Fury in their high-profile boxing clash in Saudi Arabia last night to settle over two-years of trash talking and disputes. However the influencer came up short by split-decision on the judges scorecards, with Fury boxing his way to a win after dominating large parts of the fight.

Despite acknowledging Fury's performance following the final bell, Paul insisted there were many reasons behind his lacklustre display. He said in the ring after the result was announced: “Honestly, I felt flat. I got sick really bad twice in this camp, injured my arm, so it wasn’t my best performance.

“But I lost - I’m not making excuses. I’m just saying, it wasn’t my best performance, I felt a little flat and like I said, we’re going to come back and get that W." However a fan has made it his mission to disprove the claim and has since found footage of Paul contradicting himself by suggesting he had completed a stress-free training camp.

During the broadcast prior to the fight, the host said to Paul in his changing room: "Tonight, no injuries, no problems. We're coming in a hundred percent?" Paul then replied: "Yes, sir. You're getting Jake Joseph Paul." Paul's reasoning behind his defeat came as a surprise given he had regularly documented his hard work in training prior to the event.

He had been supremely confident of ending the fight inside the distance and picking up the win, but despite landing a final-round knockdown he was unable to overturn the opinion of all three judges. However he will now face an opportunity to fight for immediate redemption given he placed a rematch clause in the contract.

And Paul has insisted he will be ready to fight Fury again later this year and is intending on activating the clause in due course. He said at the post-fight press conference: "I just spoke to Tommy and he is ready to do it again. That will be the focus first and foremost to try and get that win.

"I have to go back and look at the tape and disect it, but I know when I am having an amazing night I can do it. I don't want to sit here and make excuses but I know I can be better. I do think the rematch is huge. Congratulations to Tommy man seriously, he is a great and powerful fighter. He showed a lot of heart tonight, and I feel this was one of the first times he was tested in a fight. We did big business and for that reason the rematch is going to be even bigger."
