New flights will connect Liverpool John Lennon Airport to USA via Dublin

Emerald Airlines will begin a new service from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Dublin, where passengers can join onward flights to USA.

Starting on April 27, the Liverpool to Dublin service will operate 11 times per week with a double daily service on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Emerald Airlines is the operator of Aer Lingus Regional services and the flights will enable transfers to American flights for passengers at Dublin Airport.

Emerald will join Ryanair in operating flights from Liverpool to Dublin. Emerald's services will offer onward flight connections to New York JFK, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

Ciarán Smith, head of commercial at Emerald Airlines said: ”Today’s announcement is a much-anticipated one and will no doubt be warmly welcomed by passengers travelling for both business and travel pleasure purposes. The new Liverpool-Dublin service will provide those planning a trip with more choice and convenient flight times to suit their schedule.

"We believe that we can offer the region both great value flights to Dublin but also access to one of the fastest growing transatlantic gateways in Europe.”

Emerald Airlines follows PLAY in offering one stop to USA from Liverpool. The Icelandic airline launched from John Lennon Airport in October, providing flights to Keflavík International Airport and onward connections to America.

Lufthansa also provides international connectivity from the Speke-based airport, with flights from Liverpool to Frankfurt and onward connections from the German city.
