New flights on popular Aberdeen-Dublin route announced

AN airline has expanded the passenger capacity on its Aberdeen-Dublin route.

Aer Lingus Regional said that in response to passenger demand, four additional flights will be added, bringing the total to 11 per week.

From this September, two flights a day will be available from Aberdeen to Dublin on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday staying at one flight per day.

Ian Lough, head of commercial at Emerald Airlines – which operates Aer Lingus Regional, said: "Reflecting customer demand, we are delighted to be increasing our services between Aberdeen and Dublin.

“Passengers will now have access to even more convenient timings, allowing for greater choice and flexibility in their travel plans.

“Whether it's for business or leisure, our increased frequency ensures that passengers can visit Ireland with ease, year-round.”

Passengers connecting through Dublin from Aberdeen can avail themselves of customs preclearance if flying to the United States.

Under the scheme, customs and immigration checks happen before departure from Dublin, meaning that upon arrival in the US visitors can leave the airport with no hassle.

Within Ireland, Aer Lingus Regional offers flights to Cork and Donegal for visitors looking to explore more of the country.

And through Aer Lingus, passengers from Aberdeen can visit a range of North American cities, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.

Aero director at AGS Airports Chris Tibbett said: “We welcome these additional flights connecting Aberdeen to the Irish capital, offering even more choices to customers and further opening up Aer Lingus’ vast north American network.

“It is now easier than ever, not only for Aberdonians to visit Dublin but also for visitors from Ireland to visit the north-east of Scotland and explore the beauty our region has to offer.”
