New MPs face having to “hot desk” in Parliament as authorities rush to find them offices.
Dozens of MPs were heading to the Commons on Monday to start work in their first full week.
Some arrived on Friday soon after the election results were announced in the early hours of the morning, giving Labour a landslide 174 seat majority, others over the weekend.
They are shown around Westminster by officials who explain the various routes to get to different parts of the sprawling parliamentary estate.
They are also given lockers to store their possessions while the allocation of offices is worked out.
Like many new workers arriving in an office for the first time, they are given “welcome packs” to offer them some insights into how Parliament works.

They will have to set up their own office to deal with constituency and parliamentary matters.
They will have very little time to settle in before being asked to choose the Speaker tomorrow when the new Parliament will meet for the first time.
Father of the House Sir Edward Leigh (the MP with the longest continuous service in Parliament) will preside over the election of the Speaker.
If the former speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, indicates that he is willing to be chosen as speaker, Sir Edward will call an MP to move a motion that he take the chair as speaker. If the motion is agreed by the House, which is expected to be the case, Sir Lindsay will take the chair as speaker-elect.

If the motion is rejected there will be an election by secret ballot.
As the new MPs were settling in, former parliamentarians who lost their seats were packing up.
