Much-needed new play equipment has now been installed at a local park in Wishaw.
During the summer months, a part of the play area at Belhaven Park with swings for young children was fenced off and made unavailable for use.
The closure was due to the need for new swings to be introduced on-site and to replace the old equipment.
Following a lengthy period with no new equipment in place, the swing bay arrived with the council in early October and it was promptly installed at Belhaven Park.
Further work was then required to install new play surfacing at this area of the park.
Once the surfacing was put into place, it was then given a couple of days to properly set before the re-opening of this section of the play park.
The new swings are now accessible.
Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig councillor Nathan Wilson said: “I was concerned to receive constituent correspondence informing me that a section of the play park at Belhaven Park was closed off early in the summer and to report that the swings were not available for children during the good weather.
“It is important that all local play parks have a high standard of equipment available for children and it’s disappointing that the situation without any replacement swings appearing on-site went on for a period of months.
“It is great news that the issue has finally been resolved and with the new swing bay now in place at the park.”
