New episodes of Annika being filmed in Ayrshire as TV crew lavish praise on restaurant

A film crew of a TV crime series have hailed the seafood in an Ayrshire pub as the best they’ve ever eaten.

Cameras have been rolling in Dunure this week as scenes for a marine murder mystery Annika were shot.

The second instalment of Alibi thriller will see English actress Nicola Walker return to the role as the no-nonsense detective DI Annika Strandhed leading up the Marine Homicide Unit.

And with the specialist unit probing murders in Scottish waters, the crew opted to use the idyllic South Ayrshire village ahead of the second series.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted a hub of activity at the iconic harbour this week, which has been previously used for the hit show Outlander.

Now the crew have paid homage to the location, heaping praise on the hospitality with locals supplying food, drink and refuge to the ‘cold wet crew’.

Executive producer, Arabella Page Croft said: “We have hugely enjoyed filming in Dunure and are so grateful to all the people and organisations who helped us pull our shooting days together in Ayrshire.

“We are incredibly appreciative of Abigail Coia at the council who was simply amazing and we could not have done it without her help.”

Amongst the shout outs were Helen and Hue Hunter from Harbour view coffee shop who supplied coffee and cakes. And James Bunten, owner of harbourside pub The Anchorage.

Guy Adams, locations manager added: "The whole crew enjoyed the respite of The Anchorage pub in Dunure Harbour, owned by James Bunten, who gave up his entire premises as a retreat for the cast and crew…. The best seafood the locations team have ever eaten!

“Both Helen and Hue Hunter from Harbour view coffee shop who supplied the cold wet crew with coffee and cakes throughout the sunny yet chilly weather, which is a must for keeping a unit marching on its stomach. And finally but far from least, Cameron Kerr the Harbour master who made sure we were all safe and sound.

“We are so grateful Dunure - we hope to be back soon.”
